Frequently Asked Questions

A few answers to help you get to know dance/movement therapy and working with Laurel.

What is dance/movement therapy?

Dance/movement therapy uses movement as part of psychotherapy to support emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration. In my practice, I bring it together with conversation, mindfulness, breathwork, and creative expression to help you deepen your connection with yourself.

What might working with Laurel involve?

Our work may include talk therapy, body-based practices, mindfulness, and healing movement. You are respected as the expert in your experience. As we build trust, I offer compassionate support and reflection to help you explore your relationship with yourself and others.

Who does Laurel support?

I work with adults navigating grief, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My approach also supports people who want to rebuild self-trust, access their creativity, and cultivate greater connection and joy in their bodies. Our work together is grounded in compassion, respect for your lived experience, and a commitment to liberation. I recognize that discrimination and systemic oppression can affect our relationships with ourselves and others, and I make room for those experiences in our work together.
